Swine Flu Updates for Parents and Schools.
Swine flu vaccinations are becoming available. These are not meant to replace the seasonal flu vaccine, but to be used along with it. This means that you should expect to get three flu vaccinations this year.
You should get your regular seasonal flu vaccination. You should also get two doses (2 separate swine flu shots) of the swine flu vaccine.
The government is working frantically to produce enough swine flu vaccines for everyone; however, the groups listed below will have priority in getting their swine flu shots.
* Pregnant women
* Household members and caregivers for children younger than 6 months
* Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
* Anyone between the age of 6 months and 24 yrs old
* People between 25 and 64 who have health conditions that may make them more vulnerable to influenza.
Once the above groups have received their swine flu shot, health providers will begin administering it to everyone between te age of 25 and 65. Lastly, people over the age of 65 will be offered the swine flu vaccination.
